Travel Log
Bemus Point, NY

Bemus Point is located about 10 miles north of Jamestown, about one-half way up Chautauqua Lake  on the eastern shore.  People travel from hundreds of miles away to enjoy the summer ambiance and lively entertainment of this picturesque, lakeside community that specializes in spectacular sunsets.  Several turn-of-the-century inns and a bountiful array of restaurants make this a wonderful destination site.

Jamestown Aviation, the FBO at the Jamestown Airport, is operated by Lou and John Nalbone.  They have a crew car available for the 15 minute ride over to Bemus Point.  The photos below highlight a late afternoon and evening trip we took on Labor Day Sunday to share dinner, music, sunset and lots of laughs with our flying friends.

Every good trip begins with a good airplane.  Here, N4720Y, my 1980 Cessna T-210, sits ready to carry its owners, family, and friends on another fun trip!
Our destination was the nearby Jamestown, NY Airport, located about 35 flying minutes southwest of Buffalo, NY
Louie and John Nalbone,  owners  of  the Jamestown Aviation Company, LLC, operate the Jamestown FBO.  Their excellent flight support services include fuel, a/c maintenance, and the use of a crew car .
The famed Italian Fisherman Restaurant [known locally as "The Fish"] is situated on the waterfront.  It offers a wide selection of pasta and seafood dishes, reasonably priced, and wonderful service.  Its owner, Dan Dalpra hosts the many weekend entertainment events from a large, floating stage adjacent to the restaurant.  Dan is a pilot and offers many special treats for aviators who dine at this local landmark.  When you visit, tell the hostess than Louie Nalbone sent you . . . you'll likely receive the best seat in the house!
Memorial Day and Labor Day concerts on the waterfront are the summer highlights.  Each weekend features music, movies, and comedy of the Italian Fisherman's floating stage.
The lakeside portion of the Italian Fisherman offers abundant boat docking facilities, a floating stage (left) and a floating dining patio (right).
The floating dining patio is a great place to have dinner midst the boats, sun, and music . . . but you better avoid too much Zambuca if you want to prevent "sea sickness."
Dining is informal . . . and it's an ideal family spot.
Would you believe there could be TWO Bob Miller's ! ! !  Meet the other Bob Miller - also a pilot who also loves shrimp.  This is why I am sometimes called "Buffalo Bob," to distinguish me from the other Bob Miller.

Members of the Nalbone party warming up for dinner on the floating patio.
A blazing sunset, warm breezes, and lots of good music and food make for a fun evening!
Louie bids the three ladies in his life adieu [daughters Jennifer and Jessica (left and right) and his lovely wife, Janet in the middle].  Great evening, Louie . . . thanks!

Same time, same place next year, okay!
